PRIMARY PURPOSE

St. Vincent–St. Mary High School is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven leader to serve as the Dean of Instruction and Curriculum. This role is responsible for promoting and ensuring academic excellence across the curriculum, supporting instructional leadership, and cultivating a culture of high expectations, continuous growth, and equity. As a key member of the Instructional Leadership Team, the Dean will work closely with teachers, other administrators, and students to align instruction with the school’s Marianist mission and strategic goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Instructional Leadership

  • Set clear academic standards and expectations aligned with the school's mission and instructional vision.
  • Be a regular presence in classrooms, observing instruction and providing timely, actionable feedback to promote student success.
  • Promote a growth mindset culture and support the consistent implementation of schoolwide academic and cultural goals.
  • Champion educational equity through the operationalization of high-quality materials, equitable grading practices, and mastery-based learning opportunities.
  • Celebrate teacher growth while coaching for continued development of instructional practice.
  • Oversee interim reports, academic dishonesty reports, the academic standing committee, and students on probation.

Teacher Development & Support

  • Provide instructional coaching and one-on-one support to at least six teachers per quarter.
  • Support the implementation of the Skyrocket Framework and other data-informed practices.
  • Collaborate with the administration and department heads to ensure professional development is aligned with schoolwide goals and best instructional practices.
  • Lead professional development and ongoing PD throughout the year.
  • Oversee the 2-year new teacher cohort program and collaborate with the principal and vice principal to build a robust new teacher mentoring program.

Curriculum & Assessment

  • Assist in the development and co-design of rigorous, differentiated instructional units and assessments aligned with the academic vision.
  • Assist in curriculum mapping projects.
  • Foster an interdisciplinary, collaborative mindset among teachers.
  • Provide teachers with access to and training on high-quality curricular resources.
  • Analyze assessment and classroom data to inform instructional decisions and support targeted interventions.

Collaboration & Culture

  • Partner with content leads, grade level leads, and other academic staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement and academic excellence.
  • Support student social, emotional, and academic development through equitable practices and high expectations.
  • Collaborate with the administrative and admissions teams to plan and execute new student orientations.
  • Supervise student arrival and dismissal to ensure a safe and positive school environment.
  • Participate in the broader school community through retreats, student clubs, and special programs.

Strategic Leadership

  • Contribute to strategic planning, accreditation processes, and the continuous improvement of schoolwide academic systems (e.g., STEM, Marianist).
  • Collaborate with leadership to define and promote the “Vision for a Graduate” and the academic vision for classroom design and instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
  • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to academic equity and excellence.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum design, assessment practices, and data analysis.
  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player.
  • Completion of BCI/FBI background check and Virtus certification.
Preferred:
  • Instructional coaching or school leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of STEM education and instructional practices.
  • Ability to inspire adult learners through coaching and professional development.
