Bookstore Manager (Part-time)

POSITION OVERVIEW:
St. Vincent-St. Mary High School is looking for an energetic, passionate, and well-organized person to manage the St. Vincent-St. Mary bookstore products and services and to enhance the STVM brand by providing a significant revenue stream for the school.  
 
PRIMARY PURPOSE: 
The Bookstore Manager is responsible for the operation of both the physical and online store. This role includes managing inventory, purchasing, merchandising and budgeting while maintaining accurate records associated with cash, inventories, and end of month reporting. The Bookstore Manager is responsible for the store’s sales and marketing. This is a part time role for 25-30 hours per week. It is a five day a week position mainly during the daytime but a few evenings will be required. It is a 12-month position. The Bookstore manager will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 
  • Develop a group of student volunteers to help cover open store hours, some sporting events, and other special events held on campus.
  • Purchasing all store inventory. Keeping product fresh and new, staging new items to fill in as older product sells. 
  • Generate reports to understand and analyze sales figures looking for trends, slow moving inventory, and anticipate customer needs.
  • Responsible for preparing end of month reports.
  • Stay current on industry trends to maximize sales.
  • Maintain an appealing sales floor (arrange, clean, organize product and space within the store). 
  • Reorganize bookstore layout and make changes as needed.
  • Maintain accurate sales and inventory records.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Builds effective relationships with coworkers, students, parents, alumni, vendors, and all customers
  • Problem solving, decision making, and financial analysis.
  • Creatively and consistently conceptualize and drive new ways to solve business challenges.
  • Maintains adequate supply of cash and currency to cover daily needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining point of sale and mobile payment operations.
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Communication to develop communication content and advertising.
  • Complete quarterly physical inventory counts.
  • Collaborate with other departments regarding special project needs and events.
  • Will be a part of a group of employees who rotate to help cover the front desk as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:  
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, including writing, and speaking.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of point of sale systems.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
  • Lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
