The Guidance office at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (CEEB code 36-0090) is committed to meeting the unique intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs of each student. We have a dedicated team of 3 licensed school counselors, and 4 veteran teachers with 35+ years of experience in the field they tutor our students. We also have a speech therapist that services our students once a week. Our college guidance counselors are Jerry Rotunda and James Endress. Our college counselors meet with our Junior students in the classroom and in their office to prepare them for the college search and application process. They work with our Senior students individually, small groups and the classroom to make sure they are on track with their college applications. They also conduct a Junior Parent night and Financial Aid night every year from students and their families. Please check the Junior Timeline and Senior Timeline link for detailed information on the college and career guidance process. Mr. Jerry Rotunda graduated from St. Mary High School in 1959. He attended John Carroll University where he received his B.A. in 1964 and his M.A. in 1974. He also did post graduate work at the University of Akron. Mr. James Endress received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Akron. He has 35 years of experience as a guidance Counselor in the Akron Public Schools. Our full time School Counselor, Emily Knapp, who is here Monday through Friday and assists ever student with personal and social issues. Mrs. Knapp handles any crisis situation a student might encounter. She runs small groups sessions at lunch centering on various issues. Mrs. Knapp is the coordinator of our College Fair that draws about 100 colleges every fall and involves every private school in the Akron area. She provides a career exploration group every semester for students from any grade. Mrs. Knapp went to The Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Science with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. She attained her Master's degree in School Counseling from Kent State University in 2007. Almira Easterling is our full time guidance secretary. She ensures the Senior transcripts are sent out, and runs the office side of guidance. Mrs. Easterling has been in the STVM family for 24 years. Mrs. Almira Easterling graduated from Kenmore High School. She has been married for 38 years and has 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. [ Back to Top ]
